Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt
Hints and Tips:
---------------
Submitted by: David K.
-= Current State - Official Servers Are Gone =-
Bloodhunt's official PC and PlayStation 5 servers closed on April 28, 2026. The
original online game can no longer log in, matchmake, use the store, or restore its
Sharkmob account progression. Sharkmob also stated that account and gameplay data
would be deleted after closure.
The old Bloodhunt status page can still display every service as operational. Do not
use that page to diagnose the game now: current Steam community activity and the
shutdown announcement confirm that the official service is offline.
-= Bloodhunt Revival - Community Access Is Experimental =-
Bloodhunt Revival is an unofficial community private-server project, not a Sharkmob,
Paradox, or White Wolf service. Elysium and Prague access are established, while
multiplayer, NPCs, Entity soldiers, progression, and other match features are still
changing. Small community matches have appeared during development, so do not treat
solo Prague as a permanent feature limit.
Bloodhunt Revival currently uses the Ancify launcher. Ancify provides a Windows x64
client for Windows 10 and 11 and handles emulator patching, configuration,
authentication, and server connections. Use Ancify's official distribution rather
than random repacked launchers or game archives.
-= Revival Setup - Start With Ancify, Not the Dead Official Login =-
1. Install the current Windows x64 build of Ancify from its official site.
2. Sign in to Ancify and select the Bloodhunt Revival entry when it is available.
3. Let the launcher prepare the client and connection files. Do not manually bypass
or replace random anti-cheat files unless the Revival project itself requires a
documented step.
4. Launch through Ancify. Reaching Elysium or Prague proves that the Revival path is
working even when the current build does not offer the match feature you expected.
Revival changes quickly. A missing queue, missing Entity NPCs, an empty Prague
session, or a very small match can reflect the project's current feature set rather
than a broken installation. Check the project's current feature status before
rebuilding a working client.
-= Official Progression Cannot Be Recovered From Local Files =-
Bloodhunt did not keep normal account progression in a local save file. Cosmetics,
tokens, levels, unlocks, Journal progress, and matchmaking data belonged to the
online account service, and Sharkmob announced deletion of account and gameplay data
after shutdown. Backing up the Windows config folder preserves settings, not the old
account.
-= Gameplay Reference for Restored Match Features =-
The remaining sections describe gameplay from Bloodhunt's final official client. Use
them when Revival restores the relevant feature; they do not imply that every legacy
system or match type works in the current community build.
-= Movement - Preserve Speed With Slides, Jumps, and Walls =-
Bloodhunt's movement is built around momentum. Sprint into a slide, jump before the
slide ends, and chain that movement into walls or another slope instead of stopping
between actions. Sliding downhill builds especially useful speed.
If a long fall would force a hard landing, hold crouch as you touch down to convert
the landing into a slide. You can also jump away from a wall while climbing and chain
wall-to-wall jumps to change direction without dropping to street level.
Rooftops are usually the stronger fighting layer because they provide sight lines and
easy escape routes. Street level remains important for feeding and loot, so treat
vertical movement as a way to rotate between resources and high ground.
-= Heightened Senses - Scan Before You Commit =-
Heightened Senses highlights nearby loot and mortals with useful Blood Resonance. On
the final PC controls its default key is X. Scan as you enter a new block, then
choose a feeding target or loot route before exposing yourself on the street.
-= Feeding - Health, Resonance, and Masquerade Risk Share One Action =-
Feeding on a normal mortal restores health even when that mortal has no colored
resonance aura. A resonant mortal also grants the matching passive bonus, so use
Heightened Senses to decide whether you need immediate healing, a specific resonance,
or both.
Check the street before feeding. A safe mortal can heal you without spending a Blood
Bag, but a witness can turn the same recovery into a 40-second Bloodhunt. Entity
soldiers are the exception: feeding on them does not break the Masquerade.
-= The Masquerade - Witnesses Can Put You in a 40-Second Bloodhunt =-
Feeding in front of a mortal witness, revealing supernatural powers where mortals can
see them, or killing civilians can break the Masquerade. A Bloodhunted player is
revealed to the rest of the match for 40 seconds in the final live rule set.
Feed in alleys, interiors, or other places where nearby civilians cannot see the act.
Entity soldiers are not protected by the Masquerade, so fighting or feeding on them
does not carry the civilian penalty.
-= Blood Resonance - Stack a Useful Type Instead of Spreading Early =-
The final live client removed the old three-slot opening cap: you could continue
feeding all the way to the maximum total of 12 resonance points. Each resonance still
has three strength tiers, so finishing one useful stack produces a much larger
benefit than collecting several first-tier bonuses.
* Choleric, orange - Melee damage: +10%, +25%, then +40%.
* Melancholic, purple - Clan-power cooldown: -10%, -25%, then -50%.
* Phlegmatic, teal - Archetype-power cooldown: -10%, -25%, then -50%.
* Sanguine, pink - Health regeneration: +1, +2, then +3 health per second.
A successful diablerie or feeding on a downed Entity hunter grants a random resonance
point in the final client. A successful diablerie also resets your ability cooldowns,
which can make the risky finishing animation worth taking after a clean fight.
-= Downed, Revive, and Respawn - Know Which Recovery You Need =-
Reaching zero health does not always mean immediate final death. A downed vampire
enters a regeneration countdown; if you survive the downed period without being
finished, you can recover. Enemies can prevent that recovery by finishing or
diablerizing you.
In group modes, a teammate can interact with a downed ally to revive them before
final death. If a teammate has been fully eliminated, use a Respawn Station instead.
Stations are marked by white cross icons and disappear after use, so clear the area
and make sure the red gas will not swallow the station during the long interaction.
A respawned teammate must rebuild their equipment, so revive a merely downed ally
when it is safe instead of letting the fight progress to a full elimination.
-= Solo Extra Life - Look for the Red Heart Mortal =-
In the legacy solo Bloodhunt mode, a mortal marked by a red heart restores a lost
extra life. You can hold only one spare life at a time. After spending that life,
finding another red-heart mortal is a higher priority than ordinary resonance if the
match system you are using still supports this rule.
-= Entity Camps - Fight for Purple and Gold Weapons =-
Entity-controlled areas are deliberate high-risk loot routes. Their Strongboxes drop
purple and gold weapons in the final loot rules, so they can provide a fast equipment
spike if you can survive the guards and the attention their gunfire attracts.
Down an Entity soldier and feed when the area is safe to gain a random resonance
point without a Masquerade penalty. You can also avoid the guards and steal the
Strongbox instead when the loot matters more than the fight.
-= Armor and Healing - Know the Exact Consumable Job =-
* Armor - Takes 5 seconds to apply and adds 50 armor.
* Blood Bag - Takes 5 seconds and restores 100 health immediately.
* Blood Syringe - Takes 1 second and regenerates 50 health over 20 seconds.
* Red Gas Neutralizer - Takes 0.5 seconds and grants 10 seconds of gas immunity.
Starting another action can cancel a consumable. Use slides, walls, corners, and
vertical separation to create the application time rather than trying to heal in an
exposed rooftop duel.
-= Red Gas - Rotate Before the Safe Area Closes =-
Red gas is the shrinking match boundary that forces surviving players toward the
remaining safe area. Staying inside it rapidly drains health, so late rotations,
revives, and respawns become dangerous when the gas is already close.
A Red Gas Neutralizer gives 10 seconds of gas immunity. Save it for a short crossing,
a trapped escape, or a revive or respawn that would otherwise be cut off by the gas
instead of spending it while you are already safely inside the zone.
-= Weapon Rarity - Better Color Does Not Mean a Large Damage Upgrade =-
Weapon rarity mainly improves handling such as magazine size, reload speed, and
recoil instead of simply multiplying raw damage. Replace a weapon when the higher
rarity improves a gun you already use well; do not abandon a strong range or ammo
match just because another weapon has a brighter color.
-= Melee - Katana and Scourge Blades Have Defensive Mobility =-
Melee has its own equipment slot. The Katana can deflect incoming bullets, while
Scourge Blades provide a special dash attack. Choleric resonance scales melee damage,
making a completed orange stack a real build choice rather than a novelty.
-= Elysium Gun Range - Test Weapons Before a Match =-
The final client added an Armory and Gun Range below Elysium. Take the elevator down
to find in-game weapons plus stationary and moving targets. It is the safest place to
compare recoil, range, and unfamiliar weapons when the current Revival build exposes
that part of Elysium.
-= Archetypes - Match the Power Kit to the Job =-
* Brute, Brujah - Soaring Leap for entry/escape, True Grit for passive recovery, and
Shockwave Punch to push enemies and deflect bullets.
* Vandal, Brujah - Soaring Leap plus close-range damage resistance and Earth Shock
for an aggressive knock-up engage.
* Saboteur, Nosferatu - Vanish for mobility, semi-invisibility while crouched, and
Sewer Bomb for traps and area denial.
* Prowler, Nosferatu - Vanish plus wounded-target tracking and Scouting Famulus for
revealing enemies in a chosen area.
* Siren, Toreador - Projection Dash for repositioning, safer civilian feeding, and
Blinding Beauty for a close-range blind and damage setup.
* Muse, Toreador - Projection Dash, access to powers while downed through Final Act,
and Rejuvenating Voice for self and team healing.
* Enforcer, Ventrue - Flesh of Marble grants brief invulnerability until you attack;
nearby enemies are slowed and Unyielding Charge disables vampire powers.
* Warden, Ventrue - Flesh of Marble, health and armor recovery from feeding or
diablerie, and Shackles to punish enemies who move too far from the tether.
* Scholar, Tremere - Levitation for vertical positioning, Vital Knowledge to reveal
enemies you damage, and Blood Lance to pierce walls, hurt enemies, and heal.
-= Scholar - Blood Lance Can Heal Allies Through Cover =-
Blood Lance is both offense and support. Hitting an enemy deals damage and heals the
Scholar; hitting an ally heals that ally. The lance passes through walls, so Vital
Knowledge can reveal a damaged opponent and give you a follow-up shot through cover
rather than forcing a direct chase.
-= Warden - Shackles Punish Escape =-
Shackles anchors an enemy to a point. Moving beyond the allowed leash breaks the
shackle and deals damage. Use it before a close-range push or when an opponent is
already committed to fleeing; casting it after they have escaped wastes its main
advantage.
Save Edit:
----------
-= Config Edit - Back Up the Final Client Settings =-
Bloodhunt's Windows configuration files are stored here:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Tiger\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\
Back up that folder before experimenting with a revival build or Engine.ini edits.
There is no equivalent local save backup for the deleted Sharkmob account data.
-= Config Edit - Add a Second Binding to One Action =-
The final PC client stores input bindings here:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Tiger\Settings\InputBindings.json
To give one action a second ordinary key, close the client, back up
InputBindings.json, duplicate that action's existing JSON object, and change only the
key value in the duplicate. Start the client and confirm that both bindings appear
before making the file Read-only.
Mouse-wheel Jump is a special case. Manual MouseWheelAxis edits have worked for some
clients, but scroll-wheel jumping was also unreliable in the original input system
and can interfere with weapon switching or held wall-climb input. Keep a normal Jump
key available. If the wheel does not trigger Jump reliably, restore the JSON backup
and use an external mouse remap that sends your normal Jump key instead.
Technical Issues:
-----------------
-= Cannot Connect to Bloodhunt - This Is the Expected Official State =-
The original Sharkmob login and matchmaking services no longer exist. Reinstalling
the official client, changing DNS, forwarding ports, disabling a firewall, or
repairing Easy Anti-Cheat will not restore the official servers.
Use the community Revival path if you want to experiment with the surviving client.
If you only want the original official service, there is no current recovery.
-= Status Page Says Operational - Ignore It for Game Availability =-
The old Sharkmob status page still reports Login, Matchmaking, Game Session Manager,
store, payments, and server regions as operational in August 2026. That conflicts
with the completed April shutdown and current Steam community state. Treat the page
as stale rather than proof that your installation is broken.
-= Revival Opens Elysium but the Expected Match Is Missing =-
Elysium and Prague access returned before every original match feature. An empty
city, missing NPCs, unavailable matchmaking, or only a tiny community match can
therefore be normal for the current Revival build. Update Ancify and check the
project's current feature status before deleting a working client.
-= Bad Graphics Edit or DX12 Setting Prevents Startup =-
If an old Engine.ini or GameUserSettings.ini tweak causes crashes, close the client
and restore the backup of:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Tiger\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\
If you have no backup, rename the edited configuration file and let the client create
fresh defaults on the next successful start. Keep the old file until the replacement
configuration has been tested.
-= Do Not Expect a Local Copy of Old Cosmetics or Levels =-
The local Tiger folders contain client settings and caches, not a complete copy of
the old account database. No config edit can reconstruct official levels, tokens,
cosmetics, Journal unlocks, ranked data, or match history after Sharkmob deleted the
online account data.
