Beating Insane difficulty without a scratch:

Contrary to the description warning you, "Don't plan on winning that often," 
the hyper-aggressiveness of the hardest difficulty setting can be exploited 
to defeat it every time with zero risk to yourself. Since the two ships have
the same maximum speed, and can fly endlessly by wrapping around the gameplay
area, you can simply select infinite-range homing missiles as one of your two 
weapons, accelerate to maximum speed when the duel starts, wait a few seconds 
for the computer to get its bearings and come after you, then spin around 180 
degrees (without slowing down) and start firing missiles. Depending on the 
range to target, it may take some time to finish it off completely, but it 
will never land a hit on you.
