Beginners Tips:
---------------
Not actually nearly as difficult as a lot of people make it out to be,
they’re just being weird about an old and hard to get into game.
In all honestly the most difficult part of the original System Shock
was the controls.
-=Tips for Newcomers=-
* Take notes so you don’t forget anything important.
* Check your map constantly (the original system shock also let you add
notes to your map, unsure if this remake has that but it’s very useful.)
* Be smart about picking your fights and managing your inventory, System
Shock is in many ways a survival game and your resources are limited.
* Until you activate each level’s respawn station you only have one life
in that area, die and it’s game over. So start out extra careful until
you have that safety to fall back on.

Be aware that any tip is a kind of a spoiler. You may just want to find
out your way.
-=Tips for Newbies=-
* Save often and use more save slots. At least until you enable the standard
station restoration process (respawn chamber) on the actual level. Which
may be sooner or later in the level, or you might not find it at all. And
save even after you enable the restoration from time to time: restoration
is not a checkpoint.
* Check your map. Check for any unvisited place, go there and (re)visit every
corner until the map is fulfilled.
* Try to listen to the audio logs and read the few text notes found. Revisit
them if unsure. In the original game, there weren’t that many of them
(comparing to some newer games). Note the mentioned codes, directions,
locations or instructions.
* If there is too rough oponent or you run out of ammo, try another approach
– a gun or explosive you didn’t use much, some stimulant etc.
* Take your time and enjoy the elevator music.
Guide to to Transfer Saves:
---------------------------

Alright, so to transfer your save from steam deck to pc, you will first have
to either use a program to transfer files from your steam deck, or connect
via usb.
If you are using a program on steam deck make sure to have hidden files enabled,
here’s how to do this quickly.
Right click the Hamburger in the Upper Right Corner of your Explorer Menu and
enable it in the options.
Now you will have to navigate to the /home/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/482400
Once you are here, head to the following.
PFX -> drive_c -> users -> Steam User -> Saved Games -> Nightdive Studios
-> System Shock -> Saved
Here is where your saves are.
* Now get your save from your PC.
* Open the Run App or use Windows + R
* Paste this in
%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Nightdive Studios\SystemShock\Saved\SaveGames\
* This should bring you straight to your saves, which is located in your user
folder.
* Now that you have your save from your PC, plug in your steam deck to your PC,
then copy from PC folder to the steam deck folder. If you want to wireless
transfer, I recommend KDE connect, it works great on PC/Deck.
Cheers. This is meant to help transfer saves since steam cloud is currently not
working on this game.
Tips to Solve Circuit Puzzles:
------------------------------
-=Red Squares=-
Connect the two red squares that are lit up. This requires routing a continuous
path from one to the other. Clicking the blue circles will rotate 4 of the squares
around them (and the squares with a darker yellow background can only be rotated
by using the blue circles). Keep in mind that some of the blue circles can be
pathed through – indicated by small yellow tabs on 2 of the 4 sides.
-Power Level=-
You have to raise the power level to the level indicated by the two blue lights.
This is done by inserting the plugs into sockets. Each plug has a number of
lights (I’ve only seen either one or two) that will affect how much power it’s
transmitting. You then have to direct power to the end by turning on/off paths
and changing the paths by rotating.
Where to Store Weapons and Gear:
--------------------------------
You can use a stash place in Maintenance, next to the freight elevator. It has
4 boxes to store small loose items like ammo and stimpacks, and recycling station.
Pros: It’s has no enemy spawns, it’s a wide open room, and it’s right next to
elevators to a whole bunch of other levels.
There is a power pylon across the hallway, and 3 elevators all within 20 meters
of each other.
But usually i bring the weapons as I go up on levels and just leave them outside
the elevators. Trust me, bringing stuff with you is way better than going back
and forth for what you need.
Beta Grove Tips:
----------------
It’s actually super easy. You can even beat it without the suit or boots if you
have a couple med kits.
Immediately go to the right after taking the lift up to the room where the 3 mutate
plants are, kill them. Go through the door to where the floating COVID is. Kill it
and press the switch. This activates the force bridge to systems interlock.
Head back outside and toward the area where you got off the lift.
Run across the bridge, kill the cyborg and robot in that room and activate the
jettison thing.
Then run straight back to the elevator.
Flow Puzzles Tips:
------------------
Work backwards from the end to the source. I find this makes many of them much
easier. The start and end are the square nodes. Not the rounded ones.
Look for obvious dead ends and rule out paths that lead exclusively to them. e.g.
A straight piece against a wall.
If you find a knob that turns the pieces of another knob two turns of one then 2
turns of the other will often get the conjoined piece in line with any exclusive
piece needed for the path.
Energy Meter Puzzles Tips:
--------------------------
* Remember to first check the type of power provided by each plug. Some are single-
power and others are double-power.
* Rule out any sockets that lead exclusively to dead ends.
* Learn how Combiners and Splitters work intimately. A bit of fooling around on any
puzzle and Paying Attention will teach you this.
