Raven's Cry
Console Commands:
-----------------
Submitted by: David K.
-= Opening the Console =-
Press ~ (tilde) to open the in-game console. Enter either RavensCryCheats or
ThisIsGreatGame to enable the main cheat commands. This file covers the original
Raven's Cry PC release, not Vendetta: Curse of Raven's Cry; do not assume commands,
quests, or mechanics added by the later re-release behave identically.
-= Core Cheat Commands =-
* RavensCryCheats - enables the main cheat command set.
* ThisIsGreatGame - alternate command that also enables cheat mode.
* God 1 - enables god mode.
* God 0 - disables god mode.
* health - restores Christopher's health.
* Addgold X - adds X reales.
* AddSkillPoints X - adds X skill points.
* ec.dbg levelupX - sets the character level to X; do not put a space before the
level number. Example: ec.dbg levelup10
* kill - kills the currently targeted unit.
* ai.killall - kills nearby AI units. Use with care because quest NPCs can be
affected.
* ec.ResurrectUnit - resurrects the targeted corpse when the game permits it.
* hero.AddReputation X Y - adds Y reputation points to faction ID X.
* JumpA X - loads the map named by X. Treat this as a recovery/debug command, not
normal travel, because skipping quest transitions can break scripts.
* Create X - spawns the named world object or NPC. Use this only on a disposable save
because spawned objects can interfere with normal quest or world state.
-= Reputation Faction IDs =-
Use these with hero.AddReputation X Y.
* 0 - Player
* 1 - Neutral
* 2 - England
* 3 - Spain
* 4 - Netherlands
* 5 - France
* 6 - Pirates
* 7 - Moneylenders
* 8 - Defaultenemy
* 9 - Ally
* 10 - Avery
* 11 - Kensington
* 12 - Santorio
* 15 - Bixby
* 20 - FinalBackGroundAlly
* 21 - FinalBackGroundEnemy
* 500 - StLucia
* 501 - SantorioDocking
Example: hero.AddReputation 2 100 adds 100 reputation points to England. Create a
manual save before changing reputation because faction state can affect prices,
hostility, access, and quest behavior.
-= Adding Items =-
The inventory command is: ec.addobjecttoinventory X Y
X is the internal object name and Y is the quantity. Example:
ec.addobjecttoinventory WP_RAPIER_05 1
Useful verified weapon-family IDs include:
* WP_PISTOL, WP_PISTOL_02, WP_PISTOL_03
* WP_RAPIER_01 through WP_RAPIER_05
* WP_SABRE_01 through WP_SABRE_05
* WP_CUTLASS_01 through WP_CUTLASS_05
* SPEAR_01 through SPEAR_05
* MACE_01 through MACE_05
* BOW_01 through BOW_05
* DARTS_01 through DARTS_05
* MUSKET_01 through MUSKET_08
* KNIFE_01, GRENADE_01, WP_NEVILLE_RAPIER
Useful potion IDs include:
* HEALING_01 through HEALING_04
* INCREASE_DMG_01 through INCREASE_DMG_03
* REDUCED_DMG_01 through REDUCED_DMG_03
* ANTIDOTE
The game exposes many more internal objects, including test and quest objects. Do not
mass-spawn unknown IDs into an important save: internal or quest items can produce
broken inventory or progression states.
-= Spawning World Objects =-
Use Create X for world objects rather than inventory items. Two verified examples
are:
Create HORSE_01_1
Create GALEON
Spawn a ship only in open water and only on a disposable save. Do not use Create to
replace a quest spawn or progression trigger.
-= Camera, HUD, and Time Commands =-
These are useful for screenshots and inspection:
* Pause 1 - pauses the game.
* Pause 0 - resumes the game.
* camera.Normal.FOV X - sets the normal camera field of view to X degrees.
* camera.Free 1 - enables free camera.
* camera.Free 0 - disables free camera.
* ShowInterface 0 - hides the HUD.
* ShowInterface 1 - shows the HUD.
* DrawInterface 0 - hides the interface.
* DrawInterface 1 - shows the interface.
* time X - sets the in-game time on a 0-255 scale; 0 is midnight.
* FreezeDayTime 1 - freezes the day/night cycle.
* FreezeDayTime 0 - resumes the day/night cycle.
The free camera uses the arrow keys to move and Page Up/Page Down for vertical
movement.
Hints and Tips:
---------------
-= Original Raven's Cry vs. Vendetta =-
Raven's Cry is the original 2015 PC release. Vendetta: Curse of Raven's Cry is a
later revised re-release with added and changed content. This guide covers only the
original game; do not apply Vendetta-specific commands, quests, or mechanics to it.
Patch 1.03 is the last documented patch for the original Raven's Cry. Some of its
quest fixes do not repair quest states already stored by versions 1.00-1.02. If an
old save remains broken after updating, restarting the game may be the only reliable
way to receive those quest-script fixes.
-= Original Digital Deluxe Content =-
The original Digital Deluxe Edition adds the Black Rock bonus location and quests,
the Grim Ripper figurehead, and the Merciless cutlass. Patch 1.03 added a Black Rock
quest log and changed its treasure rewards. These are original-game extras, not later
Vendetta additions.
-= Enable Dialogue Text =-
Patch 1.03 still lists missing English voice-over lines. To avoid missing story or
quest information when a line has no voice, open Settings -> Interface, set Show
dialogs texts to ON, then choose Accept to apply the setting.
-= Save Before Experiments =-
Keep several rotating manual saves, especially before:
* using console commands,
* changing faction reputation,
* buying or replacing a ship,
* starting a long faction or story quest,
* boarding a dangerous target,
* entering a temple or isolated quest area.
Raven's Cry shipped with progression and scripting problems, and patch 1.03
explicitly warns that some old quest bugs remain embedded in old saves. Multiple
checkpoints are more useful than one constantly overwritten save.
-= Quest NPC Will Not Talk or a Script Does Not Advance =-
First reload a save made before entering the quest area. Some early versions could
leave quest NPCs unresponsive until a reload. If the save originated in version
1.00-1.02 and the problem is one of the quest bugs fixed by 1.03, updating alone may
not repair the stored quest state.
Do not use kill, ai.killall, JumpA, or mass item spawning as the first fix for a
stuck quest. Those commands can alter unrelated quest or world state and make
recovery harder.
-= Patch 1.03 Quest Fixes Worth Knowing =-
Version 1.03 changed several progression-related quests and checkpoints:
* autosaves around the Cumana battles,
* English chain-quest log fixes,
* Lancaster shop guards and Tornado dialogue,
* the Brotherhood of the Black Wave cave,
* autosaves before the Richard and Beston fights,
* Andre and Michel behavior in Looking for Merceneries,
* the Spanish chain quest, available from the San Juan governor on the east side
after landing on Redonda,
* the Isla Dauphine treasure chest.
If one of these areas behaves differently on an old save, check whether the save was
created before the relevant patch.
-= Land Combat =-
Do not treat every fight as a pure damage race. Blocking, countering, dodging,
firearms, the hook, finishing moves, and stealth all exist to reduce pressure from
groups. Patch 1.03 improved the fighting system and added finishing moves, so combat
advice written for earlier builds may no longer match the final original patch.
Use firearms to soften dangerous targets before committing to a crowded melee, then
keep space to avoid being surrounded. When several enemies are present, finish
isolated targets quickly instead of spreading damage across the group.
-= Reputation Affects Prices, Access, and Hostility =-
Reputation is not only flavor. Relationships with the major powers affect how they
react to Christopher, can change merchant prices, and can make waters or ports more
dangerous. Crimes committed against a faction can make it more hostile toward you.
Before attacking neutral or national shipping, consider whether you still need that
faction's ports, merchants, or quest contacts. A profitable capture can cost more
later if hostility makes your normal trade route inconvenient.
-= Marcus Choice and the Ending =-
Late in the story, Marcus admits that he once led Neville to Christopher's family.
Christopher can kill Marcus or spare him. This is a real narrative choice with a
different final scene after Neville's defeat.
* Spare Marcus - Christopher ultimately tries to let go of the keepsake marble tied
to his family's murder; the raven returns it, and Christopher tells his men that
the fight is over.
* Kill Marcus - the final tone remains vengeful; Christopher throws the marble away
and orders his men to finish Neville's remaining crew.
Make a separate save before the Marcus decision if you want to see both outcomes
without replaying the entire campaign.
-= Trading: Buy Surplus, Sell Demand =-
Cargo prices depend on local supply and demand. A port flooded with a commodity pays
poorly for more of it; goods that are scarce or wanted sell better.
A practical trading loop is:
1. Check cargo prices before filling the hold.
2. Buy goods that are cheap because the current port has a surplus.
3. Sail to a port where that commodity is in demand.
4. Compare the sale price before unloading the entire stack.
5. Keep enough free hold space for captured cargo and quest items.
Do not judge a route only by the sale price. Crew size and ship type affect how much
cargo space remains, while repairs and wages can erase a narrow margin.
-= Dice Poker Save-Reload Money Loop =-
Dice poker is a much faster money method than ordinary trading if you are willing to
save-scum:
1. Make a save before starting the game.
2. Choose the maximum 1,000-real stake.
3. If you win, save again before the next game.
4. If you lose, reload the previous save.
5. Repeat until you have the cash reserve you need.
The opponent does not run out of betting money, so the loop can be repeated. Use a
separate save slot if you want to preserve normal progression.
-= Choose a Ship for Its Role =-
The original game has a compact set of purchasable ships. Their base prices and
sellers are:
* Schooner - 5,000 reales on St. Lucia, or free through a story-related duel outcome.
* Galeon - 8,000 reales in Bridgetown from the Broke Captain.
* Frigate - 10,000 reales in St. George from Jacques de la Croix after completing Luc
Morel's Chapter 2 quest on St. George.
* War Galeon - 20,000 reales in San Juan from Juan Mano.
* Man of War - 25,000 reales in Port Royale from Humphrey Scottson.
On patch 1.01, one player reported that the War Galeon blocked the boarding circle at
the San Juan dock after purchase, while another player in the same thread could leave
normally. Make a manual save immediately before buying it so you can roll back if
your dock state is affected.
The Galeon is attractive for trading because of its cargo-to-crew overhead. The
Frigate favors speed and pursuit. The War Galeon shifts capacity toward guns and crew
for combat. The Man of War is the expensive all-round heavy ship.
The Man of War is sold damaged: expect zero sail health and very low hull health, and
budget for repairs immediately after purchase. Do not spend every last reale on the
hull itself.
The Ship of the Line is not part of the normal purchase list. Santorio provides one
for the final main-story naval confrontation, so you do not need to buy a replacement
heavy ship solely to unlock that battle.
-= Early Naval Fights: Retreat Is a Valid Choice =-
The world opens before your starter Schooner is ready for every encounter. If a
Frigate, Galeon, or Man of War clearly outclasses you, disengage instead of treating
the battle as mandatory. Early survival and upgrades matter more than forcing a bad
fight.
-= Match Ammunition to the Target =-
Use ammunition according to the result you want:
* Chain shot damages sails and masts; use it to slow a target.
* Cannon balls damage the hull.
* Grapeshot damages crew.
* Explosive shot becomes available later and combines advantages of the standard
ammunition types.
If you want to capture rather than sink a ship, avoid mindlessly pounding the hull.
Slow it and reduce its ability to fight back, then close for boarding when the
situation is favorable.
-= Aim Around Waves and Wind =-
Naval salvos are not hitscan shots. Adjust aim and elevation for the target's
movement, the sea state, and your own turn. Broadside timing matters more than firing
the instant the guns reload. A stable firing angle that lands most of a salvo is
worth more than repeated low-percentage shots.
-= Crew, Boarding, and Repairs at Sea =-
Crew is not just a capacity number. Losing too many crew members slows cannon
reloads, and boarding also depends on crew strength, ship condition, and damage.
Replenish crew before a difficult naval sequence instead of sailing with a badly
depleted roster.
A carpenter enables repairs at sea once the ship has the required provisions and
repair materials from a shipwright. Repair and restock before a long naval sequence
instead of assuming a large hull can absorb every mistake.
Boarding and plundering usually pay better than simply sinking a target. Captured
ships can provide cargo, ammunition, and crew. After victory you can sink or release
the ship, and that decision can affect faction relations. If profit is the goal, use
chain shot and grapeshot to disable the target without destroying the hull first.
-= Ship Upgrades =-
Upgrades can improve firepower, speed, and durability. Upgrade toward the ship's role
instead of buying everything immediately. A trade ship benefits from preserving cargo
efficiency and escape ability; a combat ship benefits more from weapons,
survivability, and enough crew to keep fighting.
The front-cannon upgrade becomes available after you successfully defend Santorio's
Island. If the option is missing at the shipyard, continue the main story until that
defense is complete.
-= Keep Cash in Reserve Before Upgrading =-
A larger ship is not automatically an upgrade if its operating cost leaves you unable
to repair or crew it. Keep a cash reserve after major purchases. This is especially
important when moving into the War Galeon or Man of War.
-= Treasure Maps and Remote Islands =-
Treasure hunts often begin with information from an NPC. Receiving the map or clue
can unlock the relevant island as a travel destination. Do not assume a remote
treasure island is missing just because it is not initially available on the sea map.
Patch 1.03 specifically fixed the treasure chest on Isla Dauphine. If that chest is
still unusable, check the game version and the age of the save.
-= Stealth and the Raven =-
Some areas support stealth. The raven also gains useful abilities, including stealing
after you learn the appropriate skill. Use stealth, ranged attacks, and raven
abilities to reduce the number of enemies you must fight at once instead of treating
every encounter as mandatory open combat.
-= Spend Skill Points for a Working Build, Not a Showcase =-
Experience feeds character development, and the skill tree covers both normal combat
and more specialized abilities. Prioritize skills that improve actions you use
repeatedly: surviving melee, reliable ranged damage, ship performance, trade or cargo
management, or raven abilities.
Console-added skill points are useful for testing, but they can destroy the normal
progression curve. Make a separate save before using AddSkillPoints.
-= Ports, Factions, and Flags =-
Faction hostility is tied to your actions, and the game supports changing ship
identity elements such as flags. Treat disguise and faction management as tools for
keeping routes open, not as a guaranteed reset of every hostile state.
If a nation has become dangerous to you, avoid unnecessary combat near its ports
while you still need merchants or quest contacts there.
-= Pause During Sailing =-
Pause the game while sailing when you need time to assess several ships, choose
ammunition, or plan a route without rushing into a bad engagement. You can also place
a player marker on the map to keep track of a planned destination.
Solutions:
----------
-= Getting a Free Schooner on St. Lucia =-
1. Finish the prologue and reach Chapter One on St. Lucia.
2. The normal purchase option is the drunkard upstairs in the tavern for 5,000
reales.
3. For the free route, challenge the captain outside when that early story option is
available.
4. Win the duel to take the Schooner without paying the purchase price.
If you already passed that story choice, buy the Schooner for 5,000 reales instead.
-= Dirty Dozen: Getting the Uniforms on Patch 1.02+ =-
1. Ignore older routes that send you around the Caribbean for this objective.
2. Go to one of Kensington's guard stations in Port Royale or Santo Domingo.
3. Reach the chest at the guard station by fighting or sneaking.
4. Take the uniforms from the chest and continue the quest.
On patch 1.02 and later, these guard-station chests replace the older quest route.
-= Spice of Life: Poisoning the Crates on Patch 1.02+ =-
1. Go to Kensington's warehouse in Cumana.
2. Reach the spice crates by force or by sneaking through the warehouse.
3. Poison the crates to complete the revised objective.
On patch 1.02 and later, the Cumana warehouse objective replaces the older
Caribbean-tour route.
-= Ancient Temple: Reaching and Using the Canella Leaf =-
1. Cross the moving small platforms quickly; do not wait on one platform longer than
necessary.
2. At the two-button trap, press the left button. The right button triggers the spike
trap. Sprint back through the stone door opened by the left button.
3. In the gate-grid room, use the floor buttons to open the matching gates and work
toward the upper-left button, which opens the route onward.
4. In the poison-gas room, watch the symbol shown above you and press the button with
the matching symbol to open the way.
5. Take the statue on the next platform, drop down, and place it on the opposite
shrine to open the next door.
6. In the corridor with three pressure plates, place the two nearby rocks on two
plates, stand on the third, then sprint through the spike trap and closing door.
7. Take the next statue and place it on its shrine. When the floor breaks in the
center, turn to the right wall and climb out before the spike walls close.
8. In the maze, keep following the right-hand wall until you find a barred gate.
Continue a little farther to the nearby button, press it, and return through the
opened gate.
9. At the giant statue and abyss, use the ledges along the right-hand wall to reach
the next doorway.
10. Cross the broken bridge with the swinging hammers: pass the first on the left
white railing, the second on the right, and the third on the left with a quick
move.
11. Pick up the Canella leaf, open the inventory with I, use the leaf, then press the
button on the door ahead to leave the temple.
-= Starting the Spanish Chain Quest =-
1. Update the original game to patch 1.03.
2. Progress until you have landed on Redonda.
3. Return to San Juan.
4. Go to the east side of San Juan and speak with the governor.
5. The Spanish chain quest should now be available.
This chain was added in patch 1.03; do not expect it to exist in an unpatched
1.00-1.02 installation.
-= Reaching the Final Neville Fight =-
1. Continue the main story through the confrontation with Kensington.
2. Return to St. Lucia when the story sends Christopher back to Marcus.
3. Resolve the Marcus choice; save beforehand if you want both final variants.
4. Return to the conflict with Neville. Santorio provides his flagship because he is
unable to fight Neville himself.
5. Cripple Neville's warship in the naval battle, then board it.
6. Defeat Neville in the final duel.
7. The closing scene changes according to whether Marcus was spared or killed.
-= Recovering from a Quest NPC That Will Not Respond =-
1. Do not kill or console-teleport past the NPC.
2. Load a save from before entering the current quest area.
3. Re-enter and let the scene or dialogue trigger normally.
4. If the save was created under version 1.00-1.02, verify that the game is updated
to 1.03.
5. If the stuck state is one of the quest bugs whose data was already saved by the
older version, start a new game; patch 1.03 warns that those stored quest states
are not repaired retroactively.
Technical Issues:
-----------------
-= Old Saves Can Preserve Old Quest Bugs =-
Patch 1.03 states that saves from older versions are compatible, but some
quest-related bugs from versions 1.00-1.02 are stored in the save itself. The game
update can therefore be installed correctly while the old save remains stuck.
Safest recovery order:
1. Back up the current saves.
2. Update the game fully.
3. Try a save from before the quest state was created.
4. If the same stored bug remains, begin a new game rather than repeatedly forcing
progression with console commands.
-= Original Raven's Cry Uses a Legacy Serial-Key System =-
The original Steam app still uses legacy key registration and is configured to show
and copy its CD key. Preserve the key before troubleshooting an activation failure.
If Steam does not display the key normally, check whether Steam wrote it to this
legacy registry value: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\TestApp281130\SteamKey
Read the value only; do not edit or delete it. Some users have reported the game
waiting indefinitely for Steam to hand the serial key to the activation screen. Do
not apply the later Vendetta VCR_Launcher/configuration workaround blindly; it is
documented for a different Steam app and should not be assumed to work with the
original release.
