La-Mulana 2
Hints and Tips:
---------------
Submitted by: David K.
You play Lumisa Kosugi in Eg- Lana, the second La-Mulana site. Expect traps,
tablets, and strict puzzle logic - read everything and scan odd scenery.
Coins come from enemies and pots. Breaking pots also drops Weights and ammo, so
smash every jar you can reach.
Buy a Hand Scanner before diving deep. You need it to decode tablets and hidden
clues. After you own it, scan stone tablets, background tiles, skeletons, and
other scenery - hints often hide in unexpected places.
Read every Xelputter message. The in-game posts flag mechanics and puzzle
direction you will not get elsewhere.
Watch your health bar. At low life, surface for a hot spring or farm green Soul
Stones from kills until the meter refills you completely.
Activate every Holy Grail Tablet you find. Each one becomes a warp point after
you read it, which saves hours of backtracking. Save often at those tablets.
Install every Mobile Super X3 app you find. Apps do nothing until installed.
Loading multiple apps at once reportedly unlocks extra combo functions -
experiment on the status screen.
The TextTrax app only stores a limited number of scanned lines. Screenshot or
copy tablet hints with graphics; skip filler glossary spam.
Colored highlight words in dialog and tablets usually name the exact item,
mantra, or action the puzzle expects. When stuck, re-read those lines before
random trial.
You can Holy Grail-warp out of most lethal traps (falls, lava, bad boss attempts)
once a tablet is registered - heal and restock in the village, then return.
How to make money (coins):
--------------------------
Coins are the shop currency for equipment such as the Hand Scanner. Farm them
from enemy drops and by breaking pots in each area. Weights and ammunition also
spill from pots, so pot-smashing doubles as supply runs when you are low on
coins.
Secrets:
--------
-= Holy Grail warp network =-
Each Holy Grail Tablet registers as a fast-travel point after you read it.
Backtrack through earlier areas by warping instead of walking the full route.
-= Mobile Super X3 app combos =-
Collect apps in the ruins, install them on the MSX phone, then try running more
than one at a time. Community notes mention hidden interactions when specific
apps are paired.
-= Hand Scanner hotspots =-
Beyond tablets, scan walls, statues, and floor details. Many riddles only reveal
themselves after a successful scan on scenery that looks ordinary.
Solutions:
----------
-= Save at Holy Grail Tablets =-
Stand aligned with a Holy Grail Tablet and press Up to save. Save before quitting
every session. The game keeps up to fifteen separate files.
-= Prologue - Village of Departure =-
Break pots for coins, talk to Elder Xelpud twice for the Xelputter app and
starter cash. Buy the Map and weights from Nebur (C-4), then the Hand Scanner
from Sidro (lower tent, E-4). Scan the Holy Grail Tablet at D-4 and save. Enter
the surface ruins at F-5 when ready.
-= Tutorial ruins (original La-Mulana) =-
In Gate of Guidance: weight on the C-1 dais for the Shell Horn; whip the B-4
chest from below for the Holy Grail item. Clear Mausoleum of the Giants through
Ratatoskr for the elevator, meet Fobos in Gate of Illusion for the Ruins
Encyclopedia app, then reach Roots of Yggdrasil D-4 to start Eg-Lana.
-= Chapter 1 - Roots of Yggdrasil =-
Open the right pressure plate, talk to Vili in E-4 for your first Sacred Orb. Buy
TextTrax 2 (Nebur, 50 coins) and Pepper (Sidro) after saving at the area tablet.
Weight puzzles and shurikens unlock the Ankh Jewel path; use it on the snake-bust
Ankh in F-3, beat Fafnir for the first Crystal Skull, buy the Guild app (50
coins), then open the shortcut to Divine Fortress.
-= Main ruin areas (walkthrough order) =-
* Roots of Yggdrasil - 1; First orb, Fafnir, Shuriken.
* Divine Fortress - 2; Odin shrine, pillar shuriken.
* Annwfn - 3; Fairy world seals.
* Immortal Battlefield - 4; Mulbruk investigations.
