Deliverance
Hints and Tips:
---------------
Submitted by: David K.
-= You Cannot Fight Walter =-
You have no weapons, so direct combat is not an option. Use the flashlight to explore
the asylum's two maze-like floors. When Walter appears, focus on escaping rather than
fighting. Some gameplay elements are randomized, so do not expect every attempt to
play out exactly the same.
-= Treat Death as a Fresh Attempt =-
There is no standard mid-run save. Dying starts a fresh attempt, so your position and
collected supplies do not carry over. Use early runs to learn the asylum instead of
trying to clear every optional discovery at once.
-= Save Stamina for Walter =-
Sprinting consumes stamina. Move at normal speed when it is safe, and keep enough
stamina in reserve to create distance when Walter appears.
-= Do Not Depend on One Battery Pickup =-
Batteries keep the flashlight powered, but their availability can vary between runs.
Take them whenever you find them and do not plan around one specific pickup; even the
lockers near the starting Cell can come up empty.
-= Use the Map to Reorient, Not as a Route =-
You can finish the game without finding the map. If you do find it, the Cell label
marks the starting area. The map is vague, so use it to reorient yourself rather than
as a turn-by-turn escape route.
Secrets:
--------
-= You Can Escape the Black Hole =-
The hidden black-hole sequence does not automatically end the run. You can escape it
and still finish the game afterward, so do not restart just because it initially
looks like a dead end.
-= Optional Discoveries =-
Optional discoveries beyond simply finishing the game include:
* The security camera system.
* Walter's first victim.
* Walter's second victim.
* Newspapers scattered throughout the asylum.
* Notes that reveal earlier victims and Walter's background.
* The hidden black-hole sequence.
PC Controls:
------------
-= Rebind Keys in the Unity Launcher =-
If the legacy Unity configuration dialog appears before the game starts:
1. Open the Input tab.
2. Double-click the current key for the command you want to change.
3. Press the replacement key.
The keyboard commands shown in the Unity keybinder can be reassigned. It also accepts
mouse buttons: when the binding field is waiting for input, click the mouse button
you want to assign.
-= Mouse Y-Axis Inversion Is Not Available In-Game =-
Deliverance does not provide an in-game invert-Y option for mouse look. The Unity
input dialog can rebind buttons and keys, but it cannot invert the Y-axis.
