Recruit Rot Followers:

As you venture into The Rot, you’ll come across Rot Followers whom 
you can save and recruit. They have several advantages as they can’t
freeze, starve, dissent, become ill, or age. However, they will 
automatically die in a few days after you’ve added them to the cult.
When they die, they leave behind several chunks of Rot crystal-like 
structures, which you can mine for Rotburn.

They also work at night and don’t require any sleep. This makes them 
ideal for working the Rotburn Mine when the rest of the cult is asleep.
You can also buy them from Helob, who sets up shop in Woolhaven.
