The Forest has a couple of commands. Now you have to discover them.
Type developermodeon in the main menu and press F1 to see if it works.
You will see a box at the top of the screen right near what writes the forest.
Then make a new game and go into a world. Skip the intro if you want.
Press F1 while in the game. There. You done it.
Now there will be a list of commands ill provide you.

buildhack on/off - Unlimited resources and quick building.
cancelallghosts - Removes every blueprint.
(warning. this is very loud if you have alot).
buildallghosts - Builds all blueprints
(warning. its also very loud if you have alot).
addallitems - Adds every item from the game but story items.
Do twice to fill stick bags and etc.
addallstoryitems - Adds story items such as key cards.
itemhack on/off - Never run out of items. must get items first.

save - Saves game where your standing.

invisible on/off - You can walk/run in water like air. no blood particles.
killallenemies - Kills canibals and mutants. they respawn though.
enemies on/off - Turns off enemies.
additem 77 - Adds live rabbit.
forcerain heavy - Makes it rain. good for water collectors.
forcerain sunny - Makes it stop raining. good for bad storms.
cutdowntrees 10 - Cuts down 10 trees. you can choose any number.
cutdowntrees 100% - Just like cutdowntrees 10. but its a percentage.
cutgrass 10 - Cuts grass in a 10 radius.
can be a long time to load if a larger size is chosen.
How to Found The Artifact Legit:
--------------------------------
To be able to obtain the artefact without cheating it is very simple! It is enough
to go to the second artefact, to look on your right, there is a computer which shows
a message in red, activate it, it is going to switch off the artefact, (you will
never save Timmy) then, you can perceive by wanting to bring out a rope, hold this
location, now go out of the cave (in the passage you will unlock the tab family in
the survival book), go in the boat and open the door ho is locked with one of the
keycards that you found in the laboratory, take the small artefact on the bed,
return at the rope in the cave of the end of the game, go down and put the artefact
in the pedestal, TADDAAAA!
-=Theory=-
* When the artefact is activated red (left click) the cannibals are attracted.
* When the artefact is activated blue (right click) the cannibals are fear of it.
Unlimited Items:
----------------
Find an item that you want to duplicate. Hold a stick and turn it into a weak spear.
Now pick up the desired item and you'll have an unlimited quantity at your disposal.
The Calm Forest (v0.0.3):
-------------------------
On the title screen, type in veganmode and you can play without fearing attacks
from cannibals. When you save your progress and play again without that mode
activated, you'll retain any items and your structures will remain in place.
No cannibals:
-------------
Type veganmode at the title screen (v0.0.3) to play without cannibal attacks.
Note: When you save your progress and play again without the code activated,
you will keep your items and your structures will remain intact.
Disable Active Cheats:
----------------------
Type in meatmode in the title menu and you'll cancel any other cheats that you may
have activated previously.
Nocturnal Enemies:
------------------
Enemies will only appear at night if you type in vegetarianmode on the title screen.
Hidden "vegan" mode:
--------------------
At the main screen, type "veganmode" (without the quotes). This removes all enemies
from the game, and changes the title screen.
Avoiding Enemies:
-----------------
The mutants at the beginning of the game do not realize you are there. If you
stay away from them or throw a rock in the opposite direction to distract them,
then they will not attack you. If you build something, the mutants will take
notice and investigate. Once an enemy sees you, either kill them or wait and
deal with the rest.
Food supply:
------------
If you are having trouble finding food, try and find a pond. There are usually
fish in them and a spear near it to fish. The fish are constantly replaced,
usually a day between spawns, and is a good supply of food for beginners.
Kill enemies faster:
--------------------
The plane ax you get in the beginning of the game takes a while to kill mutants.
Combine booze and cloth to get molotovs and kill them in one hit.
Preventing enemies from getting inside your base:
-------------------------------------------------
When building your base, set it up where there are no trees above it. The mutants
can climb trees and thus drop into your base. Also, use defensive walls to keep
mutants out and barricades to prevent the walls from being destroyed. Usually,
near the coast is a great place.
Enemies only at night:
----------------------
Type vegetarianmode at the title screen.
Cancel all other cheats:
------------------------
Type meatmode at the title screen (v0.13) to cancel any active cheats.
Indestructible Buildings:
-------------------------
You won't have to worry about anyone destroying your buildings if you type in
ironforest on the title screen.
Iron Forest:
------------
Type ironforest, no caps or spaces, into the main menu to activate a cheat which
makes your own player-built structures -not counting fire-structures like stick
fires or fire pits- entirely indestructible.
Bloody Forest:
--------------
If you type in rawmeatmode at the title screen, you'll enable permadeath mode,
which deletes your save when you die. You can toggle it back off by entering the
code for a different mode.
Regrow Mode:
------------
At the title screen, type in regrowmode to activate or deactivate the effect. When
it is enabled, 10% of the trees you have chopped down will grow back overnight. In
a multiplayer game, the effect is only in place if enabled by the host. Stumps will
turn back into trees as part of the effect, but you can prevent that from happening
by eliminating stumps in locations where you don't want the trees to return.
Reset Holes:
------------
Start a game and type in woodpaste to reset the floor and roof holes in a saved
game. The effect will reset when you return to the title screen, and has no effect
on multiplayer clients.
Iron Forest:
------------
Type ironforest, no caps or spaces, into the main menu to activate a cheat which
makes your own player-built structures -not counting fire-structures like stick
fires or fire pits- entirely indestructible.
Vegetarian Mode:
----------------
Type vegetarianmode, no caps or spaces, into the main menu to activate a cheat
which causes enemies to only raid/attack during nighttime.

How to Get Unlimited Valuable Items:

You can easily get unlimited food, meds, booze, air canisters, sticks, skulls,
battery, cloth, rope, and much more!
-=Getting Unlimited Items=-
* If you go to any of the structures like the plane and yacht in the game, you
will find loot there such as booze and meds.
* If you collect all of it it won't just come back after a while.
* There are often items in these structures that can't be crafted, so what you can
do is leave and rejoin (remember to save before doing so) and then all the items
will be there again.
* I recommend you don't just keep leaving and rejoining over and over again for the
best experience, but if you want you could do that and just get a bunch of items
and fill up a bunch of storage rooms with them and you wouldn't really need to
look for them anymore.
* Cloth is easy to get and its everywhere so if you did this a bunch of times and
got a bunch of booze you could make so many molotovs which are very powerful
against enemies.

place again, just leave and rejoin and it will all come back.

How to Beat The Mutants:

This tutorial shows you how to beat the Virginia, Cowman, Armsy (worm not included).
-=How to Beat the Armsy=-
The armsy is not so difficult to defeat when they are not in their blue form mainly
just requiring alot of arrows or projectiles (if playing on hard or hard survival).
or if you’r feeling lucky attack with a melee weapon. Most Armsy’s patrol in groups
of mutants. sometimes appearing alone so when attacking it look out for other mutants.
it’s attacks aren’t so difficult to dodge which means a perfect beginner mutant for
newbies. skinning it gives 1 mutant armor
Will run towards you if lit on fire.
-=How to Beat a Cowman
This is one of the most difficult mutants available. it’s attacks deal extreme damage
and dodging is required killing it is quite hard since it’s health is high.
* Beating the mutant means having many projectiles/bow/slingshot/etc.
* Be extremely weary when near it since it’s most common attack is the sprint attack.
* Armor isn’t needed but extremely recommended.
-=How to Beat a Virginia
This mutant is quite same to the Armsy mainly use projectiles/bow.
It attacks using its legs and creates mutant babies.
Not much can really be said about this mutant. it’s pretty much a copy of a armsy
except making baby’s.

How to chop down a tree:

1.Press "i" to open your inventory.
2.Find your plane axe / crafted axe, this should be somewhere on the
bottom / bottom left
3.Once you find your axe, press MB1 / left click on it .
This will equip it.
4.Now that you have your axe out, walk up to a tree and look in the
direction you want it to fall.
5.Since you have your direction ready, keep clicking until your tree is cut down.
6.Enjoy your 4-5 logs.
How to Get Unlimited Modern Arrows:

I will show you a really good location with a generated save point to reload and
get upwards of 60+ modern arrows and flares (some cash and electrical tape and
deers too).
-=The Location=-
This location is called the Abandoned Film Crew Camp.
It is near geese lake, which is also the entrance to a cave. On the map, it is a
little bit to the south of geese lake, and if you go there you will be bottom left
of the map and it is a couple of tents and modern boxes that the arrows are in.
There is a tent that you can save and reload on so the 60+ arrows become infinite.
Be careful though, because it is on a cannibal patrol route (there is also an
abundant amount of deer).

-=Tips & Tricks=
Be careful during the day, as small cannibal scouting parties can be regularly
spotted. To avoid the natives, make it a frequent habit to stay out of open areas
and away from fires, especially at night. The natives are more active at night and
will investigate visible fires, despite being frightened by light. Fires alert them
to the player’s presence but they usually keep their distance from the light.
It is also worth noting that the natives react to the player’s presence. They will
frequently scout out areas that have buildings, traps, fires, and effigies. The more
of an impact the player makes on his surroundings, the more the natives will notice.
They will also become more aggressive in response to the player’s encroachment: a
large fortress with effigies and fires will mean frequent attacks and the appearance
of deadlier natives like the spider mutant.
Restore your stamina by eating food, sleeping, listening to the cassette player or
resting on the wood bench. You can also drink cans of soda for an instant boost of
stamina, however, they are a limited source and should only be consumed in an
emergency.
-=Basic Survival=-
* At the start it seems best to scavenge everything you can from the plane and the
luggage around it and get away from it as fast as possible.
* If you can’t sleep through the night it might indicate that mutants are near your
campsite, be careful (indicated by a loud sound).
* It is not a good idea to eat something before going to bed, wait till you wake as
you will be starving.
* Always have some extra food left in your inventory.
* Sprinting then crouching will provide the speed of running without the cost of
energy. Use it when you need to run anywhere quickly.
-=Buildings and Traps=-
* Traps can be reset by using 1 stick and then holding “E” to reset.
* Traps can be triggered accidentally by the player and some animals.
* Effigies scare away enemies, but only when they are on fire, and it is day. They
might come back with more mutants though. You can build them via the survival guide,
but your sanity must be below 90%.
* The tall huts (mutant camps) on the island can be used as simple shelters by placing
a wall with a door in front of them and a fire pit in front of the door.
* The mutants will easily spot big buildings or a fire in the dark.
* If you notice an area nearby your camp that mutant patrols often pass through, build
traps in that area. The patrols tend to repeat similar patterns of movement and
utilizing this will increase your chances of effectively killing them off with traps.
* If you want an effective way of killing mutants, invest in deadfall traps, they are
only cost 3 logs and 3 sticks and deal extreme amounts of damage. If the deadfall trap
falls on any amount of cannibals around the kill zone, they will die instantly, but as
for mutants, it may take around 2-4 drops of the deadfall trap.
-=Crafting & Tools=-
* Spear locations: Near a small pond located on a hill next to a village with three tall
huts on the beach or in front of the tent on the beach with the boat.
* Molotov cocktails can be crafted by combining cloth and booze.
* Bombs can be crafted by combining circuit boards with booze and coins, use them to
take out stronger enemies.
* Sticky Bombs are highly recommended in order to ensure it will not roll away from an
intended target and to maximize its damage effectiveness.
* Sticks, rope and rocks may be crafted to make a crafted axe.
* Do not rely on the Plane Axe for too long. There are various types of axes to be
crafted or found.
* Crafting the warmsuit as soon as possible can save the player from a lot of trouble.
It can allow the player to stay warm from the cold and forgo building a fire in the
middle of a rainy night, therefore, avoiding unwanted attention.
* The crafted bow is a very useful weapon. You may wish to craft it as soon as possible.
The components needed are a stick, piece of cloth, and a rope. The hardest component to
find is the rope, which can be found in the boat, in Cannibal villages, occasionally
in the cave and by creating a rope from pieces of cloth yourself. Arrows will also be
required to use the crafted bow, and can be crafted from sticks and feathers. You can
also combine 1 arrow + 1 booze to add extra damage to the arrow. To load your crafted
bow with an arrow, you combine the chosen arrow with the crafted bow.
* Cloth can be put onto weapons and then lit on fire by combining a piece of cloth with
a weapon, such as the plane axe. This is useful for taking out multiple enemies at once.
* You can also craft rope, if you combine 7 pieces of cloth. You don’t have a max capacity
restriction on cloth.
* If you are holding a crafted bow loaded with an arrow, you can light the arrow by
pressing the ‘L‘ button.
-=Fighting and Tactics=-
* Block: Hold “RM” button with a melee weapon equipped to block certain attacks. Blocking
at the precise moment your opponent attacks will knock them back, causing them to stumble.
A sound effect similar to finishing a blueprint will play if done correctly.
* If only one enemy: Wait for your opponent to run towards you and hit them nonstop until
they fall down, then finish them. The player can also sneak behind the enemy to kill them
with one hit.
* Mutants will get back on their feet after being beaten if the player does not kill them.
* If you happen to be around deep water, and choose not to fight cannibals, you can lure
them into the deep water when they jump towards you and you move to the side, causing
them to drown if long enough (around 3 – 5 seconds fully in water) to drown them, same
can be done for mutants.
* Enemies can run into fire pits, catch fire and die while trying to attack the player.
* It is possible to hide from the mutants until they go back to their caves, you can even
stalk them.
* Avoid fighting with more than one enemy, always use your advantage to survive.
* Stand your ground; If it’s during the daytime, you can stand your ground against enemy
patrols. Sometimes they will back off, or give you time to back up slowly. To do this,
simply stare at your enemy and don’t move, and don’t give into their false charges.
* If you decide to run away: jump while sprinting and release the ‘Shift’-key while in the
air. If your timing is correct you can sprint indefinitely.
* Attempt to upgrade your weapons as soon as possible using feathers and teeth (or booze)
along with tree sap. The added damage and speed will make it easier to fight mutants.
* If you combine 1 lizard skin with 15 leaves it makes stealth armor.
-=Resources and Food=-
* You can use mud to camouflage yourself. You’ll find it near swamps, ponds and on some
coastlines.
* Be careful, not all berries are edible.
* When chopping down trees try to circle them and hit the right spot.
* The skin of a lizard can be worn as armor. Caution: Mutants are not always immediately
hostile to the player at the beginning of the game. However, they will take your wearing
of armor as a threat and are more likely to attack you without provocation early on. It
may be best to wait until they have already become hostile to don the lizard armor.
* Rabbits are a fairly easy to acquire source of food. Try to build a rabbit trap as soon
as you have established your camp. Place it somewhere wooded where you often see decent
numbers of rabbits scurrying about.
* You can catch fish in ponds with the spear.
* When foods turns black in Drying Rack don’t eat it directly collect it and put it back
again in drying rack it will return back to a good dried meat.
* The best animal to hunt for food is the deer as it have 4 Meats on it and easier to hit
with weak or upgraded spear.
-===Various Strategies===-
-=Big Fortress=-
This method of survival is the most obvious. In it, the player constructs a large base
with numerous traps, defensive walls, effigies (if their sanity is low enough to access
the effigies menu), and fires to keep away and kill as many mutants as possible. It works
moderately well but the mutants become more aggressive to this approach: mutant attacks
will evolve into small-scale invasions with dangerous enemies like the spider mutant. This
strategy takes a significant amount of preparation and hard work.
-=Stealth and Hiding=-
This is a much more challenging approach but it can be more rewarding in terms of survival
length. There are two different variations of this strategy: Staying mobile and staying far
away from mutants.
Covering your fires with wooden walls will also keep them from investigating the lights
at night.
The mobile solution relies on ideas of leave no trace: The mutants can’t hunt down the
player if he doesn’t have predictable patterns of movement or doesn’t have one single
sleeping spot. This works well at evading mutants but makes it difficult to satisfy basic
survival needs. The mutants will also not get more aggressive to this strategy.
-=Distance Solution=-
The distance solution is the idea of staying as far away from the mutant patrols as
possible. The difficulty in this strategy is finding the perfect spot. If the player is
too secluded, they won’t have supplies. If the player is in an open area, the mutants
will see his fire. The perfect spot is near trees and bushes for supplies but is also
hidden mostly from view. There are spots along the coast, especially near the boat, that
satisfy these requirements. If you see a nearby patrol after coming back to your base,
try to avoid sight using bushes and trees.
-=Mini-Island Approach=-
The map is the same, but the spawn is random. If you’re lucky enough to spawn in the
highlighted area, you can see a slope and a shore below. Proceed on cutting down sticks
and leaves for bonfires and some materials needed for a raft, and cut down logs and push
them down the shore for the raft. Build a raft to get rid of the shark’s dangerous jaw.
A log holder and a stick holder can be placed on a raft which provides great space and
luxury when travelling through the sea. Once your raft is built, go find the nearest
mini-island. On the island, turtles spawn in very large numbers during the night, which
gives off Meat, which takes a very long time before it spoils.
Also, turtle shells can be made into water collectors, which are the best source of
clean water.You can also cook water in a pot and drink it. During the day, collect
resources such as logs, sticks, and leaves in the forest, to build a fire during the
night and keep yourself warm when it is raining. When nighttime comes, collect meat
from the turtles that spawn in the mini-island and cook their meat. This strategy is
the most efficient and safest because food shortages will never be a problem, and mutant
attack is impossible because mutants can’t swim.
Mechanics Tips:
---------------
As far as mechanics that aren’t exactly well explained but are helpful:
* You have hotkeys! You can combine an item with the backpack on the crafting mat and
assign it to slot 1-4 respectively to set it to that hotkey. Note that the game doesn’t
like to reassign something already assigned to a slot so you may have to “juggle” slots
sometimes to move something to a different slot.
* Lighting, or lack thereof for some, is a notorious issue in this game and the actual
brightness options in game don’t really do a whole lot. What does seem to help many
players a lot more is the color gradient option instead. Test a few out to see which
is best for you but the common ones are M131, Texas, or Super.
Survival Tips:
--------------
In combat, “strafe and stab”. If you constantly sidestep them, they often miss you and you
can smack them back while they finish their failed attack. Alternatively, if melee isn’t
for you, a headshot with any bow and any arrow is an instakill on the regular cannibals.
strafing can still help you avoid getting hit while using a bow but it can be a rough
learning curve to get the hang of aiming the bows in this game correctly and consistently,
especially while both you and your target are actively running around.
Meds and armor can also be hotkeyed. The armor will help prevent you from taking damage
in the first place while the meds will heal it once you are already hurt. Note that meds
do not cure infections; and that armor operates like temp HP, where it has it’s own health
pool that is hit before the players health instead of it reducing a set percentage of
incoming damage.
Food and water are absolutely everywhere, even on hard. Mostly you just have to get used
to where everything is and what is actually available to you. Like a surprising amount
of even more veteran players don’t know that there are oysters you can eat, or that crop
plots built in caves can grow mushrooms instead, or that you can hold the old pot in your
hand during rain and have it fill itself after a few seconds.
How to Have More Than 5 Saves:

This guide will instruct you simply how to have more than the very limited 5 saves!
-=How-To=-
This is quite simple. Simply navigate to where your “The Forest” Saves are.
It should be something like:
* C:/ -> Users -> Your Name -> Appdata -> Locallow -> Sks -> The Forest
Here you will find a numbered folder and inside that will be “Multiplayer”.
It is the contents of the “Multiplayer” folder you want to grab and copy, and paste
into another folder somewhere of your creation on your desktop or otherwise, called
forest saves or whatever you like, and make a folder to place in that ‘forest saves’
folder you make, and call it ‘multiplayer 1’ or something to describe the 5 saves
that you will remember, or perhaps simply date it, and chuck those contents of
‘multiplayer’ you just copied in there.
Then, when you have deleted or saved over your five saves and are ready to back up
the next set of five, you can do the same and make a folder called ‘multiplayer 2’,
or date, description, whatever, and copy the same contents of your local saves again.

Guide to Kill the Spider Mutant (Virginia):

-=Preparing and Basic Weapons=-
First, you will need to create a spear and then transform it into upgraded spear.
Then on top of the upgraded spear, you will need to put alcohol and cloth (for
burn damage) to make an upgraded spear with molotow also named as incendiary spear.
You will also need to get a club. Its a weapon with high damage and it can be found
at mutant villages or by killing the mutants.
Singleplayer or Multiplayer?
I, myself, prefer multiplayer, as it is a lot easier to defeat enemies and make
progress, when you have backup. So i would rather search someone, who plays forest
and is able to provide any help, when needed, then to play alone.
-=The Fight=-
You will need to be ready to fight any enemies, when needed, so i strongly advise
you, to cary your best weapon by yourself everytime.
As soon as you see “Virginia”, you need to take the incendiary spear and hold it
in your hand, to be able to attack. Have your friend by your side to help you out.
It will try to attack you by lifting its front pair of legs and sprinting towards
you. At that moment, you throw the incediary spear on it and light it on fire.
Then you hit it with your upgraded club and make sure its coming towards you. Now
you tell your friend to hit it with his club, while its chasing you, to make sure
its only attacking you.
You basically beat it to death.
-=After the Fight=-
After the fight, you skin the “Virginia” and make armor. The armor will give you
a significant buff, that makes other armor better.
