Set ship speed:
---------------
Create a new folder in the game's mod directory, located at
"\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\". The name of the new
folder does not matter. Inside the new folder, create another new folder
called "Data" (case-sensitive). Copy the "Enviroment.sbc" file located
at "\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\SpaceEngineers\Content\Data\"
into the new "Data" directory.
Use a text editor to edit the copied "Enviroment.sbc" file and change the
following values as desired. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value
is half the speed of light.
< SmallShipMaxSpeed>100
< LargeShipMaxSpeed>100
How to Change Max Ship or Player Speed:
---------------------------------------
Written by darknugget4231
This guide will show you how to change the max speeds allowed for anything
movable. Rovers, Ships, Players, cargo drops, etc.
If you're not sure how to get into Space Engineers' files
* Skip this if you already know how to get into Space Engineers' files.
* Go into your Steam Library
* Right click Space Engineers
* Click on Properties
* Click on the 'Local Files' tab at the top of the window
* Click 'Browse Local Files'
If you already know how to access Space Engineers' Files
Once you've opened Space Engineers in Steam apps:
Option 1/2 All you've got to do is access the Content folder, then the Data folder, and
finally scroll down to 'Environment.sbc' This is the file you want to open. You can use
Notepad or any text editor to open it just fine.
Option 2/2 Select the file path, which will have your drive and installation folders in
front, but will have this, unless you specified a different installation path, in which
case, it'll still look essentially the same. "SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers\"
Add ' Content\Data\Environment.sbc ' to the end of the file's url. If asked what to open
with, choose any kind of text editor. Windows comes pre-installed with Notepad, which w
orks wonderfully.
All that's left now is to change the values of SmallShipMaxSpeed and LargeShipMaxSpeed.
Here's what's at the very top of the file. I've removed some of the WWWC's (W3C)links,
to make it easier to find the Bolded and Underlined text that you'll be accessing.
Last but not least, once you've opened the file, you should be able to easily find the
text needed, shown below. A few notes are in the section below this one.
< ?xml version="1.0"?>
< Definitions xmlns:xsi="">
< Definition xsi:type="EnvironmentDefinition">
< Id>
< TypeId>EnvironmentDefinition
< SubtypeId>Default
< /Id>
< SmallShipMaxSpeed>100
< LargeShipMaxSpeed>100
< SmallShipMaxAngularSpeed>360
< LargeShipMaxAngularSpeed>180
-=Notes=-
An important note before I get into further things--Cargo drops on planets will very
likely be destroyed and not land, as the parachutes deploy at a set altitude. If moving
too fast, parachutes won't stop the cargo in time, and simply explode on impact. Beware
the ones that fly away from you in space, as they can and will quickly accelerate.
(Hydrogen thrusters are the strongest thruster in the game)
Small Ship Speed includes all small grids, as well as Player jetpack Speed.
Cargo drops are also Small Ships.
Large Ship Speed includes anything that's a large grid.
It doesn't matter if it has wheels, thrusters, or both! Whatever grid size it's been made
with is what speed limit it follows. Players count as small grids.
Understand that the limit of 100 m/s is in place to help ensure a smoother running
environment, and Space Engineers can have difficulties calculating values at speeds higher
than intended. Simply put, beware lag and lower frame rates upon reaching excessive values.
Assigning excessive values itself won't harm the game or the system, but to restate it,
when you go fast (like 20,000 m/s fast) and up, expect fps drops.
Fun fact. If you have hardware (a computer / laptop) capable of running SE at while you're
at high speeds, and are lucky enough to not hit something while accelerating, or an
unreasonable amount of thrusters, you can actually clip through asteroids thanks to the way
that movement is calculated.
Don't hate, it's thanks to this simplicity in the code that allows many things to run Much
smoother, and faster.
Block Troubleshooting Guide:
----------------------------
Written by LeeTheFlea
A short yet simple guide to help beginners find blocks that are not working.
-=Power and Function=-
Basic Troubleshooting for Blocks that do not work
-=Step A=-
– Is the power on / Cycle Power on grid.
Yes – Next step, go to Step B
No – Turn the power on, does it work?
Yes – Done
No – Check sources for power
Reactors? Batteries? Solar?
Go to Step B
-=Step B=-
Each No answer, proceed to next step.
Suspect Block
Do I know how this block is suppose to work?
a) Yes
i) What’s not working?
ii) Do I have resources / can I repair it?
iii) Repair It!
b) No
i) What does this block do?
ii) Examine the block not working
iii) Is it connected to your grid still?
1 No – connect it or repair it
2 Yes – Next step
iv) Is it damaged?
1) Yes – Repair it, does it work?
2) No – Next step
v) ) Is it on?
1 No – turn it on, does it work?
2) Yes – Next step.
vi) Are the Settings Correct?
1) No – Change it, does it work?
2) Yes – Next Step
-=Step C=-
What is attached to it?
i) Examine each part attached to block in question (using the step B above). Follow
back from block in question to far back until it’s fixed or you run into an end.
-=Step D=-
Continue examining each blocks as needed until the problem is found or corrected.
Common Issues for why something does not work
* Power Failure (lack of power, power off, etc)
* Block is off or overridden
* Block is disconnected from Grid
* Not connected with conveyor
* Ownership issues.
Tips for Builders:
------------------
Allow me to bestow upon you a compendium of sagacious counsel, guiding your
endeavors in the realm of shipbuilding within the vast cosmos of Space Engineers.
Lo, here are some titillating tips to ignite the fires of your ingenuity:
Firstly, conceive the very essence of your vessel with unparalleled imagination.
Ponder the purpose it shall serve, whether as a stalwart mining behemoth, a nimble
fighter, or a majestic transport conduit. Let this be the foundation upon which
its design and functionality shall flourish.
Thou must then forge a blueprint, a sacred charter delineating the celestial
contours of your creation. Divulge its innermost chambers, housing engines,
weaponry, cargo holds, and utilities, ensuring a seamless amalgamation of these
vital components.
Inception commences with the construction of an indomitable core, the veritable
spine around which all else shall orbit. This unwavering foundation shall bear
the weight of your aspirations, wielding a robust interconnectedness.
Consider the incantations of power and propulsion when fashioning thy masterpiece.
Draw forth the elemental source to invigorate your vessel, whether through the
arcane machinations of reactors or the ethereal energy stored within batteries.
Withal, adorn your creation with thrusters, enabling swift and agile movement,
whilst contemplating the integration of a gyroscopic control system for elegant
rotation.
Neither hasten nor capitulate to the yearning for grandiosity, dear neophyte.
Commence your odyssey with a modest craft and embark upon gradual expansion, as
your sapiency and arsenal burgeon through the annals of experience.
Testing and refinement are the crucibles wherein your vessel shall be forged.
Engage in artistic reverie within the realm of creative mode, allowing unrestricted
experimentation to transpire. Wield diverse formations of blocks and configurations
until thine essence resonates harmoniously with the cosmos.
Seeketh out your brethren within the esteemed Space Engineers community! Lend an
ear to their wisdom, for in forums they congregate, video tutorials they dispense,
and in their guile, inspiration shall flourish. Let their tutelage and insights
enrich thy craftsmanship, nurturing the growth of thy shipbuilding prowess.
When thou art brimming with confidence, venture forth into the crucible of
survival mode. Amidst this tempestuous realm, challenges shall manifest, patience
and resource management shall be thy crux. Yet, the rewards bestowed in this
crucible shall enhance the manifold joys of shipbuilding.
Remember, dear wayfarer, that the art of shipbuilding within the dominion of
Space Engineers is an unruly muse, demanding patience and unwavering dedication.
Let not fear besmirch thy visage as thou dost embark upon the treacherous path
of experimentation. In errors shalt thou find wisdom, and amid the fervor of
conceiving thy spacecraft, let the banners of mirth and revelry unfurl.
May fortune smile upon thee, and may thy vessels truly be awe-inspiring in their
grandeur and triumph!
How to Create World (in Tips):
------------------------------
Set the world on creative mode the very first time you create it, disable all
NPCs and the option named Economy on creating the world, load to setup your
start, save/exit to enable all in, set survival and publish it on your Workshop.
We can take control of where we want to spawn, a good trick to build the Respawn
station at a easy Biome first and avoid lightning problems on start.
Hit F5 while in the First respawn ship to respawn at another area.
If that F5 trick is not working, happens when playing with “Auto-respawn” enabled
and/or “Auto-save” enabled:
* Turn OFF the Survival Kit on the Drop Pod (so you will not auto respawn there).
* Hit the backspace key to “kill” your character and open the Respawn screen.
* Select the same Drop Pod to land at another area.
* Redo the above till you land at a Easy Biome or Rich ore spot of the game.
-=Keep in mind the following=-
* Rich ore spots = Where all ores can be found close to each other, some areas
have all ores within 1 Km.
* Easy Biome = Where the Ore Detector block is not needed because we can see the
ore spots with the naked eye on the soil and no “Bad weather” so no lightning.
* Medium Biome = Green grass Biomes because it is harder to see the ore spots on
the soil and those have lightning that can damage your creations where you will
have to build lightning Rods and Safe Zone (station shield).
* Hard Biome = Where there are more lightnings with bad weather and where the ore
Detector block is needed.
I also recommend to enable “Experimental” in game options to unlock all world
advanced settings and be able to disable the option named “Block limit”.
You will not be able to build on all planets, moons and space if you play with
“Block limit” enabled, you have to join with 4-6 players to build on all planets
so better disable the Block limit if you play alone or with a friend.
-=Keep in mind we have 2 game modes=-
* Default Safe mode = Made to have a better MP perfo but limited where server
admins can control the Perfo, also able to change that limit that is used to
be fair in PVP scenarios.
* Experimental mode = All in + unlocks all World advanced settings + can add
Mods + can enable Scripts + can disable the “Block limit” + adds “Share inertia
tensor” and unlock impulse axis on piston.
-=Another good tip=-
* Auto-Respawn ON = We respawn automatically at the closest Medic Room or Survival
Kit when the character is killed.
* Auto-Respawn OFF = We can use Medic Rooms or Survival Kits as “teleport” system.
