-= Easy money: trade refinery shares =-
At the start of the game, make sure the game speed is not running too fast. Open the
stock market and buy about GBP 4 million worth of shares in any of the refineries.
Once the shares are purchased the price should immediately rise, so sell them as soon
as it does, then buy more shares in a different refinery and repeat the same trick
again. Once you have plenty of money, buy all the shares you can before May or June of
the first year. After that, every three months the dividends should pay out enough
either to build up a large reserve before you start your company, or to give you extra
cash while you build your firm.
-= Easy money: buy big after loading a save =-
Sometimes the number of shares available for the refineries is very high, which mainly
happens when you load a saved game. When that occurs, buy as many shares as you can
afford; the share price can then jump by thousands. Sell them immediately and keep
repeating the process until your bank balance is satisfied.
-= Build a refinery =-
Refineries are expensive but pay off. First research all of the upgrades the refinery
needs, then save up roughly GBP 4,800,000 in cash. Build it in your home town (the
town you start with) and you will have a working refinery.
-= Quick cash from a rail run =-
If you are low on money, head to St. Petersburg, where there should be a train
station. Send a train out to Odessa and back to St. Petersburg; the delivery run
brings in a quick cash injection to tide you over.
-= Profit from oil storage and pipelines =-
For steady income, research and buy the largest oil storage you can and place it in a
good spot. Then build and connect pipelines to an oil tower and research the upgrades
for a bigger pipeline. Upgrading both the storage and the pipeline lets the new setup
turn a solid, ongoing profit.
