Gunboat God
Hints and Tips:
---------------
Submitted by: David K.
-= Movement and combat =-
* Surface is your neutral lane - threats come from sky, water, and the waterline.
* Jump and dive underwater briefly to dodge obstacles and attacks; dash forward
on the waves.
* Prioritize the Force skill (costs uranium rods from challenge levels) for finer
control of jump/dive ascent and descent.
* The colored special bar (top left) fills on kills and heart pickups - it boosts
move speed, jump/dive depth, dash range, and gun fire rate.
* The red bar below powers abilities and your special attack; some levels reward
per- kill refills to keep abilities rolling.
* Swap weapons mid-mission when a level punishes your current range or fire rate.
* Open Gear after missions (cog on the results screen, or Main Menu -> Gear) and
keep global weapon damage upgraded - cap reported at level 80 with sparks.
* If the level-select screen warns your weapon level is below the enemy level,
grind Gear upgrades or replay easier nodes before pushing forward.
-= Special attack =-
* No penalty for using it in most missions - save "no special" challenge rules.
* Strong for mob clears and boss damage, especially after upgrades.
-= Mission routing =-
* Zone maps branch through optional nodes; you need not clear every mission to
advance, but skipping too many side routes leaves you under-upgraded.
* Faster clears earn higher rank stars; replay with new weapons for score
chasing.
-= Abilities =-
* Jet - Rocket flight to stay airborne.
* Submarine - Swim underwater; upgrades add sonar slow (tier 2).
* Ghost - Pass through enemies and hazards briefly.
* Shield - Deployable barrier absorbing hits.
* Four abilities unlock through tutorial-style levels; upgrade each with four
jewel tiers from mission rewards.
-= Weapons =-
* Lancer - Starter; solid range and damage.
* Erupter - Explosive shots for groups.
* Blaster - Short range, high DPS when upgraded.
* Glint - Long-range energy beam.
* Blitz - Short sword-like beam, high damage.
* Vaporiser - Slow, wide-area heavy hits.
* Dynamo - Curved beams; stuns enemies.
* Railgun - Charged single shots; needs accuracy.
Secrets:
--------
-= Dread Mode =-
* Unlocks after beating the five zone bosses on normal difficulty.
* Replays all levels in the "Atomic Dimension" with harder enemy stats, faster
boat movement, shorter i-frames, faster energy drain, and random mission
modifiers.
* Enables Augments (upgrade with Dread Mode nuggets):
* Spear - Bullets pierce enemies.
* Thorn - Stronger damage-over-time.
* Deep - Bonus damage shooting upward.
* Sky - Bonus damage shooting downward.
* Trident - Chains damage to nearby foes.
* Dread completions feed separate Sweep / Boss / God achievements; full Godly on
every Dread mission is optional for 100% achievements.
-= Godly rank =-
* Six star tiers per mission; top "Godly" needs no damage, time-bar filled,
strong combo/score where applicable, and mission-specific goals (e.g. protect
NPC health).
* Finish the campaign and max Gear first, then return for Godly attempts.
-= Boss and skills =-
* Each zone boss uses three phases with new hazards each phase - learn patterns.
* Resurrect skill (four uranium rods) grants one extra life per level - strong
for first boss attempts.
Solutions:
----------
-= Zones and goals =-
* Woodlands - Early weapons and ability tutorials.
* Waterways - Mid-campaign upgrades.
* Marshlands - Higher enemy pressure.
* Atomic Ruins - Late-game augments prep.
* Ascended Citadel - Final boss; return to Citadel story payoff.
* Mission types (20+ total) change priorities - examples: - Collision Course:
obstacle routing with jump/dive/dash. - Outlast: survive waves inside the
timer.
-= - Boil =-
environmental hazard variant (publisher teaser name).
* Objectives also include reach-the-end runs, timed kills, and Yeti escort
segments.
